Frankie Dee Aikens – Resetting Himself Everyday
Frankie Dee Aikens is nothing short of a Renaissance Man. He has his film production company, Reset Pictures, Contributor and Senior Writer to the widely successful Smooth Magazine and has just begun a valiant effort in terms of spiritual and social inspiration for those willing to partake in his outspoken yet, on the mark wisdom.
Sometimes you just run along someone who intrigues you greatly and he’s one of those people. Just recently, on his blog, he posted a photo of a man in full KKK uniform in an emergency room and an all-black medical personnel frantically trying to save his life.
Yes, he will shock you but you might learn a thing or two also….
Check out my interview with Frankie, the chronic optimist, below….
Hi, Frankie! Why don’t you introduce yourself to those who may not yet be acquainted with you and your work?
I’m a partner and producer at RESET Pictures. We are a video and commercial production company based out of New York. I’m also a senior writer at SMOOTH Magazine. I’m also venturing into doing some inspirational work under my RESET YO SELF! ™ Campaign.
RESET YO SELF! ™ is an interesting phrase. What does it mean to you and how do you want others to understand it?
I look at RESET YO SELF as my social contribution to anyone who is willing to listen. The concept is about being better in every moment. It’s about turning negatives into positives through a paradigm shift in your mind that leads to positive action. I think we all have the ability to really own how we see our worlds. RESET YO SELF is a state of mind and a mechanism that reminds you that you can do just that whenever you get ready. It’s a lifestyle that I’m committed to and an idea I want to share with as many people as possible.
What is your goal for Smooth Magazine?
May goal as a contributor to SMOOTH is to reveal the personalities of the woman in urban modeling. The stigma of the genre is purely topical and surface oriented. Its eye candy but I want to bring forth the substance of the young women so readers can recognize the brain that goes along with the beauty and body.
What is your goal for your production company?
We just want to create content that will matter today, tomorrow and 20 years from now. We don’t do things for money as much as we do things for the pure passion for the project. I look at film production as an opportunity to place a bookmark in history. You can deliver any message you want through that medium that can change the way someone sees the world. We want to be a production company that does great work that also has a culture with a social standing.
Where do you draw inspiration?
I draw inspiration from everywhere. I draw inspiration from waking up in the morning. Each day is a gift and I appreciate everything that comes with being alive. In this life, anything is possible. I’m inspired everyday by that simple fact. I’m in love with the possibilities. I always will be.
Name one director/actor/actress you would love to make a film with right now….
I really would like to work with inspiring actors and directors.
I imagine working with a promising young actor; actress or director would be like giving birth to a brand new life. As they move along in their careers you get a chance to watch them blossom and grow. Inspiring actors and directors have a hunger to learn, be better, and succeed. That hunger is never stronger than when someone is first starting out.
If you had one way to describe yourself, and one thing you want people to know about yourself and your company, what would it be?
I’m a chronic optimist and I would people to say that the potential of my company and brand has no ceiling. I would also want to be on their wish list of people and companies to work with.
What do you feel are you biggest successes? Personal and professional? Do you separate the two?
My biggest success hasn’t come yet. I’ve done some notable things and I’m appreciative of having the opportunity accomplish them, but I want to my body of work to speak for itself. I won’t be able to answer that question until it’s all over and I’ve looked back at all that I’ve done. Personally, I feel I have many small victories every day. It’s the small victories that add up to big successes. I’m happy that I’m able to stay open-minded and optimistic through everything.
What’s next for you?
Hopefully tomorrow is next for me! I always thought that my future begins with waking up the next day. The big picture for me is continuing to share the RESET reality through the things I create, social networking, and the book that I’m currently writing about the RESET YO SELF ideology. I have a line of RESET YO SELF T-shirts coming out in the spring that I think the people will love. They will be creative and inspirational. Every will be able to stay updated on my next moves by following me on twitter @itsfrankybaby.
