Geraldo Rivera, The Retail Giants That Profit From Hoodies And The Trayvon Martin Family

On March 24, 2012 by Celebterview

I’m appalled at Geraldo Rivera. Although I shouldn’t be. He is not new to publicity stunts such as his latest, suggesting the hoodie Trayvon Martin was wearing helped aide in the end of his life. The sheer ridiculousness of it is stupefying. Hoodies are sold in every store across the country, the world. If you wanted to go shopping right now, to stores that middle America loves shopping in, Holister, Abercrombie, American Eagle, etc, a large part of their inventory is hoodie sweatshirts, geared towards young men and women. Even brands geared towards a more corporate shopper carry them.

Perhaps Rivera is suggesting they  decline the sale and immediately halt production of these lucrative items, because they invite others to take your life. Why doesn’t he start such a campaign?

Furthermore, why are these RETAIL GIANTS SILENT about this whole thing? Why don’t they publicly support the family of Trayvon Martin, help aide in the legal fees for Martin’s family, since no doubt, this blurs into their own image? I am certain they are seeing a colossal increase in sales from people supporting Trayvon’s family by buying and wearing hoodies, as the entire country is outraged. Also, it would help if they made public announcements disdaining Rivera’s comments, making clear that they take pride in the All-American images they create, which hoodies are a major staple of, to help promote their respective brands.

In that same vein of thought, a woman is inviting to be raped because her shirt is too tight, or her lipstick is too bright. I am thoroughly disgusted.
